The rCell 500 Dual SIM LTE router is Captive Portal ready. Follow the steps below to configure the rCell 500 as a hotspotsystem.com Captive Portal in minutes. You can use the same approach to configure the rCell 500 to use another captive portal system.
The following setup is based on Firmware version 4.04b01.
STEP 1: Ensure that no timezone is configured and that the router uses GMT/UTC time. This step is only necessary if you are using HotspotSystem, as the router time needs to be the same as the HotspotSystem timezone. You can configure your local timezone on the HotspotSystem portal.
STEP 2: Under Basic Network – WAN, configure your WAN for Internet access.
STEP 3: Under Basic Network – WiFi, configure your WiFi Access Point. For Authentication select Auto or Open and for Encryption select None.
STEP 4: Under Basic Network – Client/Server, create a new DHCP server, DHCP 2, with a different IP address range from DHCP 1. Reboot the router when prompted.
STEP 5: Under System – External Servers, create a UAM Server with the following settings:
Server Name: hotspotsystem Server IP/FQDN: www.hotspotsystem.com Server port: (leave blank) Login URL: https://customer.hotspotsystem.com/customer/hotspotlogin.php Shared Secret: hotsys123 NAS/Gateway ID: Account Username used for access to the Hotspotsystem Control Centre Location ID: Numeric value of the Location ID created on the Hotspotsystem Control Centre Location name: Location Name created on the Hotspotsystem Control Centre Server: check Enable
STEP 6: Under System – External Servers, create a RADIUS Server with the following settings:
Server Name: Radius Server IP/FQDN: www.hotspotsystem.com Server port: (leave blank) Primary Shared Key: hotsys123 Primary Authentication Protocol: CHAP Secondary Shared Key: hotsys123 Secondary Authentication Protocol: CHAP Shared Secret: hotsys123 Server: check Enable
STEP 7: Under Applications – Captive Portal, configure the following settings:
Captive Portal: check Enable WAN Interface: WAN-1 or the WAN interface to be used by the Captive Portal LAN Subnet: DHCP 2 or DHCP server created in STEP 3. Authentication Server: select External RADIUS Server and the Radius server created in STEP 5. UAM Server: check Enable and select the UAM server created in STEP 4.
STEP 8: Under Basic Network – LAN/VLAN, change the DHCP server for VAP 1 (or the WiFi Access Points for which you want to use the Captive Portal) to DHCP 2 (or the DHCP server created in STEP 3).
STEP 9: Reboot to make sure that settings persist and test your new HotspotSystem Captive Portal.
